Your first 90 days in Brisbane — a practical checklist
Licences, Medicare, utilities, doctors, sport clubs and the small things that make a new city feel like home.
Week one
Electricity, internet, contents insurance, a go card for public transport, and a pharmacy and GP near home. Register the children's school uniforms and bus routes before term starts rather than in the first week of it.
First month
Transfer driver licences and vehicle registration to Queensland, update Medicare and health cover details, join the local library, and find your nearest public pool. Learn your bin days and your street's storm behaviour.

Sport clubs are how families make friends here — junior rugby, netball, nippers, cricket and swimming clubs all take mid-season joiners. Pick one, turn up, and the social side of the move looks after itself.
