A free resource for your relocating families

Moving to Brisbane is an independent guide for families relocating here — mostly from Sydney, Melbourne and overseas. It answers the question schools get asked constantly but can't really answer: where should we live? You're welcome to share it, or link to it.

See a school page: Somerville House

This is what a school page looks like — the suburbs within an easy morning run of the South Brisbane campus, indicative housing costs in each, and the other schools in the same reach.

A page for your school

Every school we cover has its own page showing the suburbs within a reasonable morning run, indicative housing costs nearby and other schools in the same reach. No fees are published, and nothing is ranked.

Enrolment steps, plainly explained

A step-by-step guide to how enrolment usually works here — waiting lists, interviews, deposits, and state school catchment rules — for families who have never navigated a Queensland enrolment before.

Suburb tools

Two free tools: one that starts from a school and shows the suburbs that work for it, and one that builds a shortlist from what matters to the family, their commute and the community they want.

What we promise

  • It's free, with no paywall, no sign-up and no ads.
  • We don't rank or score schools, and we don't publish fee comparisons.
  • We don't sell your families' details, and nothing is required to use the tools.
  • Housing figures and travel times are clearly labelled as indicative starting points.
  • If something about your school is wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.

Ways schools use it

  • Add it to your enrolment or 'relocating families' page as a further-reading link.
  • Include the link in the welcome pack you send after an offer is accepted.
  • Share your school's page with families who ask 'where should we live?'
  • Mention it in a newsletter item for families arriving next term.

The guide is written and maintained by Bron Stacey, a Brisbane buyer's agent at Home Scouts, who works with relocating families every week. The guide itself is free and editorial: there are no paid placements, and no obligation to work with us. If your families want help buying, there's a link — that's the extent of it.
